DUMBO Brooklyn Engagement: The Magic of Starting 2026 in New York City

As a NYC wedding and engagement photographer, my weekends are usually a blur of highways and new landscapes. I’m constantly traveling to document love stories in the quiet corners of New Jersey, the grand estates of Long Island, or the scenic views of Upstate New York. But there is an undeniable electricity that comes with shooting in the heart of the city—especially when it's the first session of the year.

This Sunday, I stayed local to welcome Spring 2026. I met with an incredible Mexican couple for their engagement session in DUMBO, and the experience was a powerful reminder of why I chose this path as a visual storyteller.

A Personal Connection to the "Yes" Watching them walk through those iconic cobblestone streets under the Manhattan Bridge hit me differently this time. It’s been exactly a year since I got engaged myself, and every time I frame a couple through my lens, those memories come rushing back. I know exactly what they are feeling—that mix of adrenaline, overwhelming joy, and the realization that everything is about to change.

Getting engaged is more than just a ceremony; it’s a portal. Being able to document that transition for others, while reflecting on my own journey, adds a layer of depth to my work that I can’t put into words. It makes every shutter click feel more intentional.

The Iconic DUMBO Aesthetic DUMBO is a legendary spot for a reason. The raw, industrial textures of the red brick buildings contrasted with the timeless steel of the bridges create an editorial photography playground. As a bilingual creator, I loved being able to connect with them in Spanish, making the session feel less like a "photoshoot" and more like a walk between friends.

We didn't just take photos; we captured the heartbeat of Brooklyn. The wind, the crowds, and that unique NYC light provided the perfect backdrop for their story.

Welcoming the 2026 Wedding Season This was the perfect way to kick off the 2026 season. After a winter of planning and evolving the Tobi Nieto brand, being back in the streets of Brooklyn felt like coming home. Whether I’m shooting a high-profile event at Tavern on the Green or an intimate engagement in DUMBO, my mission remains the same: to find the raw, unscripted truth in every moment.
