The Muse: Framing the Bride as a Piece of Fine Art
Cinematic black and white wedding photography of bridesmaids looking through a window admiring the bride i
Every wedding day has a gravitational pull, and it always leads directly to the bride. She is, without a doubt, the living piece of art of the entire celebration—the culmination of months of anticipation, emotion, and beauty.
During this particular wedding, I wanted to visually capture that exact sentiment. Instead of a traditional, staged portrait, I stepped outside the box—literally. I asked the bridesmaids to stand outside, looking in through the massive grand windows, while the bride stood before her reflection.
The contrast between the girls' ecstatic, admiring faces framed by the glass and the quiet grandeur of the bride in her veil created something purely cinematic. As a documentary wedding photographer, my goal is always to find these unscripted perspectives. By intentionally splitting the composition through the window, the image highlights a universal truth of every wedding day: everyone is there to admire the masterpiece.
